Now there is a guide—written entirely by volunteer advocates of the right of families to direct their own final arrangements—that congregations can use to support home funerals as a ministry. Undertaken With Love: A Home Funeral Guide for Congregations and Communities describes how to start and sustain a home funeral committee. It walks congregational committees and other small groups through the processes of researching their legal rights, options and responsibilities in caring for the dead until burial or cremation. It describes how to handle, bathe and transport the body and directs groups to sources of further information and training.
